NASHVILLE, T.N. (WKRN) – A 12-year-old boy has died after being injured in a fireworks accident in south Nashville Sunday night.
According to police, it happened around 10:30 p.m. on Lewis Street.
The boy was reportedly playing with a tube-type, mortar-style firework when it went off while he was holding it.
He was taken to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt where he passed away.
Detectives responded to the hospital and the scene to investigate.
His name has yet to be released.
