DARLINGTON, SC (WBTW) – Domino’s is offering a $7,500 reward for information that leads to an arrest in the shooting death of a pizza delivery driver in Darlington County.
The Domino’s Pizza store where delivery driver Abdul McKenzie worked for 20 years was open for business on Tuesday.
In addition to the reward offered by corporate, the store is donating half of its proceeds Tuesday and Wednesday to the family, according the store’s manager, Jamelia McClain.
Someone shot McKenzie, 39, late Saturday night on Rogers Road, not far from the Timmonsville Highway, south of the city of Darlington. Deputies responded just before midnight and found McKenzie in his car.
Co-workers said they were shocked when they heard the news about McKenzie.
“I’m going to miss him. He’s one of my children. I’m praying for him and my church is praying for him,” said co-worker, Joan Harris.
McKenzie leaves behind a wife and three little girls.
“Our kids loved him to death,” said wife, Trinity Sampson. “He always took care of what he needed as a father. There was never a dull moment in our house, ever. Those girls got treated like royalty.
Lt. Robert Kilgo, of the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office, said investigators are continuing to conduct interviews and follow leads. Evidence has been submitted to SLED for forensic testing, Kilgo said, which will take time.
