The community around Lumberton attended the charity benefit ride on Saturday for fallen police officer Jason Quick.
The event started at 9 a.m at Southeastern Agricultural Center and continued until 5 p.m.
The Lumberton police department, the Robeson County sheriff’s office and hundreds of bikers showed their support for Quick and his family.
Officer Quick died after being hit by a car on I-95 on December 15. He was investigating a crash on the I-95 Northbound lane near exit 22.
“We were kind of crushed. It’s disheartening. This is the third one we’ve done. Jason actually was hit and killed on the day we did the ride for the Greensboro officer that was killed,” said organizer of East Coast Coyotes, James Desmond,
The ride fee was $20 for all bikers, and it included meals, live entertainment, activities, live auctions and kids also joined the fun.
“He was actually a car guy. He liked mustangs, and motorcycles. So this right here would’ve been right up his alley,” said co-founder of East Coast Coyotes, Christopher Pack.
All proceeds from Saturday’s event will be given Officer Quick’s family.
People in attendance say they will continue to give back and honor Lumberton police officer Jason Quick.
