CONWAY – Senior forward Zac Cuthbertson received another weekly honor as he was named the Sun Belt Co-Player of the Week. He shares the honor with Brian Warren from Texas Arlington. He was also named a Henson award winner, given to the top mid-major performer of the week nationwide.
Cuthbertson led the Chanticleers to victories over Louisiana Monroe and Louisiana in picking up the first weekly award for the Chants this season.
He scored 29 points and grabbed eight rebounds in the win over the Warhawks. He also had two assists and two steals during his 35 minutes on the court.
In CCU’s win over Louisiana, the New Bern, N.C., native scored 24 points and had nine rebounds. He added a blocked shot in the game.
For the week he averaged 26.5 points per game and 8.5 rebounds per outing. He shot 56 percent from the field and was even better on his three-point attempts hitting 64 percent of those. He hit 20 of his 23 free throws for 87 percent.
On the season Cuthbertson is averaging 19.2 points and 8.4 points per game. Both among the top six in the conference. He is shooting 50 percent from the field and just over 40 percent from beyond the three-point line. With the good week at the free throw line he has raised his free throw percentage to 72 percent.
Cuthbertson will lead the Chants down to Texas this week to begin the second half of the Sun Belt schedule. CCU will face Texas Arlington Thursday Feb. 7 at 8:00 p.m. and will travel to San Marcos to face Texas State Saturday Feb. 9 at 5 p.m. Both start times are listed for the Eastern Time zone.
