MURRELLS INLET, SC (WBTW) – A funeral home is offering the public a chance to experience Abraham Lincoln’s funeral – complete with period attire and an authentic replica of Lincoln’s coffin.
Goldfinch Funeral Homes & Cremation Center will present “The Assassination and Funeral of President Abraham Lincoln” from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday – Lincoln’s birthday – at 11528 Hwy. 17 Bypass in Murrells Inlet.
“We seek to reach out to the community with an informative and entertaining program highlighting funeral service and the healing that the ‘Greatest Funeral in the History of the United States’ had on our nation, said Josh Campbell, location manager.
Batesville Casket Company’s authentic replica of Abraham Lincoln’s coffin will be on display at the funeral home as part of a historic demonstration of the Civil War period. The replica was crafted to the exact specifications as part of an antique casket display.
Members of the funeral home staff, clad in period attire, will give lectures and answer questions during this presentation.
