The City of Dillon is moving forward with plans to redevelop the downtown area, by adding two grant projects.

“I was excited that I was able to save several pieces of history of the building,” said business owner Stephanie Mitchell.

Several businesses in downtown Dillon are in the process of remodeling their property, and city officials are encouraging owners to take advantage.

“To have a destination Dillon, that can be a tourist attraction for people,” said downtown coordinator Bridget Thornton.

The city of Dillon was awarded the upfit incentive and facade grant for $15,000 each. This will provide financial assistance for business owners all throughout downtown Dillon to make improvements to their property.

Many business owners said this is exactly what the area needs right now.

“This really raises the bar high for our city to look better. Hopefully people would want to actually move in to this area because we have so many great places around here,” said Mitchell.

The projects will include painting, replacing signs, and store front windows in your business.

“Hopefully after people start seeing the improvements of 2019 more people will be willing to participate in years to come,” said Thornton.
