Ahead of parking and busy season, The City of Myrtle Beach approved changes to parking downtown.

The City plans to change signage on all city-operated lots and paint spaces with the word “pay” in blue and yellow. A third-party enforces parking downtown, not city officials. In an attempt to decrease confusion for visitors, parking enforcement will be in marked vehicles and matching shirts.

The changes come after The City received complaints about how some found it difficult to distinguish between private lots and city-operated lots.

Parking season begins on March 1 and continues through October.
