A woman accused of shaking a five-month-old child was arrested by Dillon police, according to warrants.
Warrants obtained by News13 say that Judy Wallace Cox has been charged with abuse/parent, guardian, other allowing another person to inflict great bodily harm upon a child.
Warrants allege that on February 12, Cox caused “great bodily injury or harm upon a child” by shaking the child in a way that “caused severe damage to the brain area and severe trauma to the eye area.”
Cox was arrested by the Dillon Police Department.
Charges were filed on February 19 for abuse, allowing another person to inflict great bodily harm upon a child, according to the Dillon County Public Index. Her initial appearance is scheduled for March 16 at 9 a.m.
Shipp Daniel, with the 4th judicial circuit, announced Tuesday that a gag order was signed by Judge Roger Henderson in the case. All agencies associated with the case fall under the gag order and cannot release any information until the final disposition.
