TIMMONSVILLE, SC (WBTW) – Florence County School District Four Board of Trustees met in executive session Monday night for nearly three hours to discuss the district’s accreditation issues.

News 13 told you back in January the State Board of Education placed some schools in the district on probation and said the district could lose accreditation.

In tonight’s meeting, the district’s superintendent said the Board of Trustees will go before the SC Board of Education tomorrow in Columbia and the meeting was to prepare for that hearing.

The Board of Trustees also told the public they will be discussing the future of the district’s superintendent Dr. Andre’ Boyd, and whether or not he will remain as superintendent.

Last month, The State Board of Education placed some of the schools on probation and parents in the district like Timothy Charles say they are concerned for the future of their children.

“I don’t want the state to take over. My daughter loves this school. She’s in the fourth grade and from 0 -4 she’s been in this school. I want to keep her here under the management we’ve got because we’ve got some very, very good teachers,” said Charles.

After tomorrow’s hearing in Columbia, the State Department of Education will take a look at the chances the district representatives bring before the board.

State leaders will then take that information to the state school board meeting later this month to make a decision on the fate of the district.
