Young people in our region recently got a look at future career options.
The “Pathways 2 Possibilities” event started Wednesday at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.
The interactive program is designed to help young people find an interest, or turn an existing interest into a career.
Organizers expect 7,000 eighth graders from seven area counties to attend the two-day event.
“The average student knows about doctors and lawyers and nurses. So, we want to show them that, based on their career interest or school area interest, there are opportunities that they may not know of that are available to them,” said Ashley Nelson, Communications and Events Manager with the Francis P. Benelle Foundation.
The event continues Thursday at the convention center.
The Waccamaw Regional Council of Governments hosts the program.
