NORTH CHARLESTON, SC – Officials with the North Charleston Police Department responded to an assault call on Monday, April 4 at Sumner Place on Sumner Avenue in North Charleston.
The North Charleston Police Department says once on scene, the officers found a female victim suffering from a stab wound. The victim was transported to MUSC where she later died.
The suspect, Dontavia Derrome William Reid, 24, of Goose Creek is charged with murder in this case and is expected in bond court on Monday morning. Reid is the stepson of the victim.
Charleston County Consolidated Dispatch says the call came in at 1:48 a.m.
North Charleston Police are on scene investigating the incident.
