MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW)-More than a thousand students will participate in Horry County Schools seventh annual technology fair on Wednesday. It’s grown tremendously since it first started. The first year it only had around 300 participants.
Students will show off their skills in several different competitions. Students in kindergarten through twelfth grade will show everything from games they’ve created to different programs, web designs and digital photography.
Ashley Gasperson, Horry county’s digital communications coordinator says the purpose of this fair is far beyond technology.
“Part of the whole process with the judging that we do and bringing the public out to look is to talk to the kids and if they can not only build it and do it but explain it to someone else I think that says a lot about the whole child and the communication and where we are going in the future because its not just hiding behind the computer and being techy its about being able to get out in the community and be face to face with people.”
There will be more than five hundred booths in here today if you’d like to come check it out. The event starts at 12 and lasts until four at the Myrtle Beach convention center. Entry and parking are free.
