MARION (WBTW) – One man is dead after a shooting in Marion, what police say is the third murder in a three-block area in the last 18 months.
Marion County Coroner Jerry Richardson said Stephen Howard died after a shooting on the corner of Waycross Street and Jones
Avenue. The shooting took place around 6:15 p.m. Sunday, April 17. An autopsy was performed April 18 at MUSC.
Officers are searching for Geno Davon Lester in connection with the murder. Marion Police Chief DeWayne Tennie said his officers are looking for as many as five people in connection to the shooting, but Lester’s name and photo is the only suspect information available at this time.
Chief Tennie adds the other two murders on Jones Avenue have been solved.
