Filing begins March 15 for the Loris mayoral election, which is set for Tuesday, May 28, 2019.

The special nonpartisan election comes after the death of mayor Henry Nichols.

According to the city of Loris, the books for filing for the position of mayor will open at noon on March 15 and close at noon on March 25. Candidates should file a Statement of Candidacy, Statement of Economic Interest, and pay the required filing fee ($75.00).

The eletion is set to be held in Loris on May 28, to fill the unexpired term ending December 31, 2019. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Polling places will be Loris Elementary School on Highway 9 Business East and James P. Stevens County Office Complex on Walnut Street.

The Municipal Election Commission will hold a hearing at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 30 to certify the election results. Any runoff will be held two weeks after the election, Tuesday, June 11, 2019.
