ROWLAND, NC (WBTW) – A shooting in Rowland because of an “ongoing conflict between two families” has killed a woman and left another victim injured, according to Major Anthony Thompson.
Major Thompson with the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office says deputies are investigating after a shooting occurred in the 2500 block of South Robeson Road in Rowland. The shooting was the result of a continuous conflict between two families that live on South Robeson Road, adds Major Thompson.
The woman killed during the shooting, Brittany Nicole Locklear, 27, of Lumberton, was not a part of the conflict. Major Thompson says Locklear was struck by a stray bullet and was died on scene. A second person, Carlton Dixon, 34, of Lumberton, was shot and has non-life-threatening injuries. Dixon was shot when he tried to stop the conflict.
Carlton Delvin Leake, 27 of Fairmont, has been arrested and charged with first degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon intent to kill inflicting serious Injury. Leake was denied bond for the murder charge and granted a $250,000 secured bond on the weapons charge. He is currently booked into the Robeson County Detention Center, confirms Major Thompson.
