This exclusive black tie optional gala in the gardens on May 7th, from 5 to 9 p.m.. An annual event renowned in the Lowcountry, the 2016 masquerade-themed gala will be held surrounding the stunning Fountain of the Muses garden. entary valet parking, a large-screen showing of the Kentucky Derby, and the beauty that only Brookgreen Gardens offers. Masquerade at the Muses is hosted by the Friends of Brookgreen Gardens and all proceeds directly fund new projects within the gardens.

In addition to the beauty of the gardens, the special lighting and decorations, renowned sculptor Peter Rubino will hold an Extreme Sculpture Demonstration and in 20 minutes he will create a sculpture on stage. Peter Rubino has achieved international acclaim for his public, private and corporate commissions. He specializes in portrait sculpture. Some commissions include busts of baseball legends Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig and Ty Cobb, American Jazz icon Dave Brubeck, and President Barack Obama. Peter’s books “The Portrait in Clay” and “Sculpting the Figure in Clay”, forward by Dave Brubeck, are Random House publications, distributed world wide and translated in five languages including Chinese and Russian. Peter originated “Symphony in Clay” a high energy speed sculpting clay performance and maintains annual exhibition, lecture, demonstration and performance schedules. It will definitely be an exciting event to see!
