HANOVERTON, OH – A man reported missing by his girlfriend is now facing charges after he was found safe with another woman Monday morning.
James Artrup, 27, of Hanover Township, was reported missing by his girlfriend after he disappeared while fishing in Columbiana County late Sunday night.
According to Artrup’s girlfriend, he was supposed to be gone for 30 minutes after leaving about 7:30 p.m. When he didn’t return, the woman searched the shoreline herself for about 90 minutes and then at about 10:45 p.m., she called the Sheriff’s Department.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Columbiana County Sheriff’s deputies, firefighters and volunteers have been searching for Artrup all night.
His tackle box was found by the lake during the search.
Investigators said he was found with a female co-worker, Candy Ammon, who is also facing charges.
Police contacted Amonn after she called off work Monday, and she told investigators that she hadn’t heard from Artrup, according to police.
She was charged with obstructing official business.
Artrup, who later called Wellsville Police to say that he was OK, is charged with inducing panic.
Artrup and Amonn were arrested at Amonn’s Wellsville home on Monday and are expected to be arraigned on the charges in court on Tuesday.
Investigators said the search for Artrup used a lot of resources and approximately 50 volunteers, who missed work Monday to assist with the search.
