CONWAY – Zack Hopeck retired the last 14 batters he faced over 4 2/3 innings as Coastal Carolina beat UNC Wilmington 4-1 Tuesday.

Hopeck only allowed two hits and pitched six scoreless innings as he turned in his best career performance to improve to 2-2 on the season. Coastal also used nice plays in the field behind Hopeck to keep the the Seahawks offense at bay.

G.K. Young hit his Big South-best 15th home run of the season to spark a three-run second inning for the Chanticleers, who clinched the conference title over the weekend and now hope to boost their chances to host an NCAA regional.

The Seahawks, who came in ranked as high as No. 13 in the nation, fall to 35-14.
