COLLETON COUNTY – (WBTW) South Carolina Law Enforcement Division arrested and charged a former St. George PD officer with misconduct in office Wednesday.
SLED agents arrested Shaun Michael Dumon, 34, in connection with an Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Investigation. Dumont faces a common law charge, public official misconduct in office, that can carry a penalty of up to 10 years in prison. Dumont was booked at the Colleton County Detention Center.
According to an affidavit, around May 11, while on duty, Dumont knowingly ‘solicited and received images of a minor appearing in a state of sexually explicit nudity.’ Dumont also took pictures of himself while in uniform and sent them to the minor.
The case was investigated by SLED at the request of the St. George Police Department and will be prosecuted by the S.C. Attorney General’s Office.
