COLUMBIA, SC (June 6, 2016) – A Surfside Beach lottery winner is going to surprise his granddaughter by paying for her college education. He won the prize on a lottery ticket he bought on the way to her high school graduation.
The winner says he stopped for gas and a Palmetto Cash 5 ticket at the Siri LLC on U.S. Highway 501 in Aynor. His ticket was good for two draws. That night he won $4.00 The next night he won $200,000.
“I didn’t think it was real,” he said having matched all five numbers drawn on Friday, May 27. “I didn’t think it could happen to me.”
In addition to helping his granddaughter pay for school, he’s also helping his other granddaughter with her tuition. As for the grandfather, he wants to give to his church and enjoy being debt free.
The odds of winning $200,000 playing Palmetto Cash 5 are 1 in 1,003,884.
