The star of an MTV show about teen motherhood decided to drop domestic abuse charges against her ex-fiance, an attorney said Wednesday.
Nathan Griffith, age 27, was charged with criminal domestic violence after an incident involving Jenelle Evans around 4:15 pm on March 4 at their Socastee-area home.
On Wednesday morning, the charges were dropped against Griffith after Evans requested the charges be dismissed, Amy Lawrence, an attorney for Evans, told News13.
The couple got engaged earlier this year — and were engaged until the incident on March 4. But, they broke up in the wake of the clash when Evans’ engagement ring was removed during the incident involving Griffith.
The incident on March 4 happened while MTV crews were taping the 6th season of Teen Mom 2, which is planned to air later this year.
Lawrence said that Evans decided not to press charges because she was not injured in the incident and “it was the right thing to do.”
However, Lawrence did note that the pair are still broken-up.
After the incident, Griffith told police he never touched 22-year-old Evans and that she took the engagement ring off, causing a cut to a finger.
The pair — who share a toddler son named Kaiser — used to live in the North Myrtle Beach area, but then moved to Socastee.
According to a landlord of the Socastee home soon after the incident, Evans moved out.
