DANVILLE, VA (WNCN) – Police in Virginia and North Carolina have issued an Amber Alert for a 7-month-old child who is believed to be with her 51-year-old father, Carl Ray Kennedy.
WRIC reports police said Carl Kennedy assaulted the infant’s mother with a knife, then took the child during an incident at a Kwik Stop in Danville, Virginia. The mother is OK following the assault police said.
Police said the suspect could be going south to North Carolina.
Emma Grace Kennedy was last seen wearing a light blue onsie with dots and a white rabbit on the left leg and matching headband.
She has a small scar on her left cheek.
Carl Ray Kennedy stands 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs about 170 pounds.
He has gray hair, green eyes and was last seen wearing a brown T-shirt, gray shorts, and black and white Sketchers.
Carl Ray Kennedy has a pierced left ear and numerous tattoos on both arms.
He is a registered sex offender in North Carolina after a 2014 conviction for sexual battery. The Sex Offender Registry shows he is listed as living in Asheboro. He is currently out on bond after being arrested on drug charges, police said.
He was last seen driving in Danville, Virginia near the North Carolina border in a Gold Suzuki with North Carolina license tag number FAA-1873. It has a Johnny’s Auto Sales emblem on the trunk.
