FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – District officials have named a new principal at West Florence High School after the former principal stepped down last week.
The release from Florence School District One spokesperson Pam Little McDaniel states Dr. Kelvin Wymbs will serve as acting principal at West Florence for the remainder of the 2018 school year.
Dr. Wymbs will replace Pam Quick, who resigned her position as principal of the school this past Friday.
Last Thursday, district officials confirmed Quick was on administrative leave with pay. When asked about the reason Quick was on leave, the district commented that they were “unable to discuss personnel matters.”
“Dr. Wymbs brings a wealth of knowledge of high school operations to West Florence High School,” the press release says.
Dr. Wymbs served as principal of Richland School District Two’s Lower Richland High School, principal of Grove Street Alternative School in Mississippi and principal at Carvers Bay High School in Georgetown before he was named Director of Secondary Education for Florence School District One in 2015.
In his role as Director of Secondary Education, Dr. Wymbs spearheaded programs like the Advance Education STEM programs at West Florence and Southside Middle, the Early College Program at Wilson, the AVID program at Sneed Middle, and the newly implemented iLead program at all Florence One high schools with the University of South Carolina.
