MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – A Myrtle Beach Middle School student was removed from school Monday morning after claiming he had a gun.
Myrtle Beach police report officers issued a juvenile summons to the child for disturbing schools after he said he had a gun as students were entering the school Monday morning. Police say the student, whose name will not be released, along with his bookbag and locker, were searched, but a gun was not found.
Police say the student was released to his guardian and they will be required to appear before a juvenile judge for the charge.
Myrtle Beach Middle School leaders addressed the threat the school’s Facebook page saying “the student will face appropriate disciplinary actions per school policy,” but details of that policy were not given.
School leaders go on to ask for help from parents saying, “We ask that parents please talk with your children regarding the dangerous consequences of making any type of an alleged threat or statement.We will not tolerate the disruption of our school day or statements or actions that cause fear within our school.”
The date for the student’s juvenile summons hearing was not given.
