LAKE CITY, SC (WBTW) – Three students were arrested Thursday after Lake City police discovered a gun in the technology center on Carer Street.
Lake City Police Public Information Officer Amy Pringle says the School Resource Officer at Ronald E. McNair New Technology Center was told about a student bringing a gun to school and that three male students were in the bathroom looking at the weapon.
Pringle says the school followed protocol and immediately went on lockdown. The SRO found the three students in the bathroom and took the gun with no further issues. Officers took the three students to the police department where they met with the parents.
Lake City police charged each of the students with unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful sale or delivery of a firearm to a minor. Police did not release the names of the students.
No one was hurt and police say the school is back to normal operation at this time.
